Turkish AESA mega-radar in Adana traps Cyprus- The Asia Minor coasts next in line to check the Greek FIR

Turkey's first long-range early warning radar system (EIRS) has been installed and is operating, according to Turkish media, in Adana!

The radar has a range of 400-600 km and is capable of detecting ballistic missiles.

"The new radar has completed factory acceptance tests and replaced a TRS-22XX radar with provisional acceptance," a Turkish source said.

The EIRS system, an AESA-type radar developed by ASELSAN, will replace the TRS-22XX radars produced in Turkey under the French license Thales.

In this context, according to the information, the first factory acceptance tests have been completed and already the EIRS radar has replaced a TRS-22XX radar in Adana with a temporary acceptance permit.

EIRS is a new generation S-Band radar developed for long-range early warning, AESA type and digital beamforming infrastructure, with a target detection range of 470+ km, which reaches 600+ km in various situations.

EIRS, which will be used in roles such as ballistic missile detection and tracking, will also play a critical role in detecting targets with low radar cross-sectional area.

Speaking at the 4th Military Radar and Border Security Summit, ASELSAN Deputy Director General Mustafa Akul also stated that the number of radars will be around 18 by 2030.

According to information, studies are continuing on the use of MURAD AESA radar developed for Turkish F-16 fighter jets and AKINCI. In this context, the first domestic units are planned to be used in 2024.

In addition, the first prototype radars to be installed on the "nose" of AKINCI in 2023.

We remind you that Turkey is preparing a naval mega-base in the Karpasia region, accompanied by a special "naval rapid strike group", which will consist of various surface vessels and submarines.

From the evidence that exists, this is an advanced station that wants to ensure the broader strategic planning of the southeastern wing of the "Blue Homeland", while the presence of Turkish UCAV Kizilelma is also foreseen.

In addition to surface ships (from missile boats to corvettes, frigates, sea drones), at the Karpasia Base, the Turks plan to set up radars, sensors, missile systems and other modern means of gathering information for the surveillance of the seas and airspace in conjunction with already existing in the Pentadaktylos mountain range.

According to the same military sources, the Turkish Naval Base in Karpasia:

1. Controls the canal from Suez to Alexandretta with all that means, if one takes into account the connection of the area to Baku and the passage of natural gas and/or to Turkey's military designs in Syria.

2. It is relevant: A) With the upgrading of the Russian Base in Tartous, in the following sense: It constitutes a strategic move related to the Syrian coast, because there may be an end to oil and natural gas pipelines from the Arab countries and/or the Iran. There were such designs before the war in Syria and they were one of its causes.

B) With the upgrade that Turkey wants to achieve in the new architecture of the eastern Mediterranean, so that it is an important and necessary factor both for NATO and for Russia, with which it lives together in Syria.

3. It is connected to the Base in Lefkoniko for "unmanned aircraft", belonging to a wider network of Turkey that extends from one side to the Aegean and from the other to Syria and the wider Middle East.

4. It reinforces the logic of the Turkish lake, which starts from Marmarida and ends in Alexandretta," the Cypriot newspaper emphasizes.

The naval base in Karpasia and the plans of the Turks

As is known, the naval base in Karpasia is being prepared by Turkey, which together with the air base in Lefkoniko, will constitute the main infrastructure of the Turkish forces for controlling the Cypriot EEZ and part of the Eastern Mediterranean.
