This upgrade consists of the manufacture and delivery to the Turkish Armed Forces of the Altay National Tank as well as the ZAHA Armored Amphibious Vehicle.
Altay
Turkey is proceeding with the manufacture and delivery to its Armed Forces of the Altay National Tank equipped with the AKKOR self-protection system, which is an active protection system that can be applied to many types of armored vehicles thanks to its modular architecture.
AKKOR will form a complete 360-degree protection shield after detecting the incoming missile or anti-tank missile in a very short time with its high-tech radar.
The homing munitions will detonate as soon as the anti-tank threat gets closer, with the help of the sensors on them, neutralizing the threat.
ZAHA
Also, the manufacturer FNSS has reportedly already delivered at least 27 ZAHA armored amphibious marine vehicles to the Turkish marines, capable of carrying around 500 men at a time, i.e. a battalion of marines.
Of the above 27 ZAHA, 23 are personnel carriers, 2 of which are Command and Control vehicles and 2 of which are recovery-rescue vehicles.
The vehicle's armament will consist of a remote-controlled turret with a 12.7mm machine gun and a 40mm automatic grenade launcher.
At sea ZAHA reaches a maximum speed of 13 kilometers per hour, while on land it reaches a maximum speed of 70 kilometers per hour. The personnel carrier will be able to carry a driver-crew chief-gunner crew of three and a team of 18 soldiers.
Turkey has its best weapon systems in the 1st and 4th Army Corps
For those who have been following Turkey for several years, it is well known that the newest and most modern weapon system available to the Turkish Land Forces is that it primarily equips Formations and Units of the 1st Army with responsibility in Eastern Thrace and the 4th Army (Aegean) oriented towards our islands in the Aegean.
Therefore, just as it happened in the case of the first ZAHA, which were delivered to the Marine Brigade in Phocaea, so we expect the first Altay tanks to make their way to the Formations of Eastern Thrace
Headquarters - Organization of the 1st Army Corps
The said Army is based in Constantinople and has three (3) Army Corps (SS), the 2nd SS and 5th SS with areas of responsibility from southern Evros to the area opposite Soufli around and from opposite Soufli and further north respectively, and the 3rd SS as reserve.
Specifically, the 2nd SS has in Eastern Thrace, 3 Motorized Brigades (M/KTAX), 1 Armored Brigade (TTT), 1 Artillery Regiment, (SPB), 1 Engineer Regiment (SMH) and in Imbro and Tenedos 1 Commando Regiment (SKD).
The 5th SS has, 3 Motorized Brigades (M/KTAX), 1 Armored Brigade (TTT), 1 Artillery Regiment, (SPB) 1 Engineer Regiment (SMX), 1 Commando Brigade (TAXKD), 1 Reconnaissance Brigade.
Finally, the reserve 3rd SS has 1 Mechanized Division, 1 Mechanized Brigade (M/KTAX), 1 Armored Brigade (TTT) and 2 Track Brigades.
The interesting thing is that in each Turkish Motorized or Armored Brigade, the existence of 2 Motorized Battalions (MTP), 2 Tank Divisions (EMA) and 1 Commando Squadron (MKD) is foreseen.
Essentially we perceive that the combat power of a Turkish M/KTAX differs little from that of a TTHT, since their only difference consists in the number of TOMAs that are superior to the TOMBs in an Armored Brigade.
The opposite happens in a Turkish Motorized Brigade.
From the above, the clear offensive orientation of the 1st Turkish Army can be seen, with the mission of forcibly crossing the Evros river, breaching our defensive location and then widening the rift and its final disintegration, in order for the formations of the reserve 3rd SS to carry out the continued exploitation-pursuit.
Headquarters - Organization IV SS
Opposite the 1st Turkish Army is the 4th SS based in Xanthi, which has 2 Mechanized Divisions and 1 Mechanized Brigade in the first echelon and 1 Mechanized Brigade and 1 Armored Division in reserve.
And the disposition of our Armored Brigades is scaled in depth, as dictated by the defense orientation of our country, with the XXIII TTHT in Alexandroupolis, the XXI TTHT in Komotini and the XXV TTHT in Xanthi and XXIV TTHT in Litochoro, which are subordinate to the XX TTHT based in Kavala.
The inclusion of TOMA Marder in XXV TTHT
According to reliable information, our country has taken in the first Marder TOMAs that it received at XXV TTHT based in Xanthi, with the aim of those that will arrive in the summer also joining it, reaching the total number of sarana approx.
The inclusion of the TOMA Marder in said THT aims to form a steel reserve force that will act immediately in case it was required at any point of the Evros river, since the tank potential of the Brigade includes the Leopard 2A6HEL tank, one of the most advanced weapon systems that the Army has in its arsenal.
