Greek air dominance in the balance with Turkey, due to the Rafale, is the only appropriate solution for the USA to keep the "Turkish beast" under control, while even scenarios of a possible "movement of American forces to the islands" are reportedly being considered, while the official goal is the control of the Russians, but essentially these scenarios concern Turkey.
Turkish Brigadier General brings problems for the F-16 VIPER
Retired Turkish Air Force Brigadier General Fakhri Erenel evaluated in a Turkish newspaper the views on the "tough" attitude of the USA Congress regarding the F-16 VIPER.
Erenel said, “we always come face to face with America in many areas of the world.
I see the whole case with the F-16Vs, just like the process for the Patriot missiles. They won't give us the F-16V.
We are saying that Turkey's request for F-16Vs and Sweden and Finland joining NATO are not related, and that Congress should not appear it like they are related.
But they are denying these fighters following the same attitude as when we bought the Russian S-400s, using the sanctions tool.
A similar process is being developed for the F-16V. But let's say they decided to give them to us, we will accept it, while we can modernize them in our own factories in 1-2 years.
For any US F-16V decision to be materialized even now, it would take at least 4-5 years for 60 F-16V fighters to arrive.
In 4-5 years, however, Turkey will have developed its own aircraft. During this time, I think we should cooperate with countries that will cover our shortcomings and provide ready combat aircraft such as Russia, or France..." said the Turkish Brigadier General.
When Erene was asked if they would give F-16Vs if Erdogan left power, he quoted the following answer: “Even if the government changes in Turkey, the USA will not give them to us. Also, even if the government changes, I don't think there will be any difference in the Aegean or Cyprus. Because those who maintain such an attitude will leave the government. Whoever thoughts of a different approach for Cyprus and the Aegean will have no future."
USA will not move on F-16VIPERs until Turkish elections
Turkish expert Dr. Gökçe also believes that the USA will put the F-16V issue on hold until the Turkish elections:
"They will not give F-16 until the elections. Congress has a deadline of one month. There is a high chance of rejection by Congress. Even after the denial, the American President actually has the power.
Especially, concerning the American interest, the President of the USA can give approval even if Congress rejects it. But it will wait for a while. They will not give F-16V to Turkey until the election, because it would give a trump card to the current Turkish AKP government, and the USA does not want to strengthen the existing power. I think they will be delayed until the Turkish elections."
Turkish Air Chief Unal two days ago was even more revealing about the case that Greece is supplied with F-35, talking about a Turkish reaction to the "invisibility" advantage that the future Greek fighter jets would have, naturally meaning the development of the Turkish S-systems 400, to deal with them.
The Turkish political and military leadership, which now is clearly seeing the Greek supremacy in the air, understands that it cannot under any circumstances implement the plan "we will come one night to the Aegean", and is pushing in all directions without result.
Our country must continue equipping the Greek armed forces, as the only reliable way to prevent any Turkish provocation in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean, while it must activate the doctrine of a single space with Cyprus, securing the island from any possible Turkish provocations.
