The armed forces of Skopje will be supplied with three artillery regiments with a total of 18 Boran light guns of 105 mm, from the Erdogan regime, further upgrading the relationship with this state after Albania and the BAYRAKTAR sale.
The supply is implemented based on the equipment plan of the artillery units of the Skopje Army. The news in question included the following announcement from the Skopje staff:
"The Skopje army has embarked on a major modernization project. Thanks to American and German military assistance, the transition is taking place from the technological legacy of the Cold War, largely taken from Ukraine in 2001, to modern weapons systems.
The Boran Howitzer will be purchased by Turkey forming a complete artillery unit, and together with the US Stryker and JLTV infantry fighting vehicles and the French Mistral 3 missile system for air defense will help the transition to new era".
The first artillery, consisting of 6 BORAN guns will be delivered to Skopje within 2 years. The remaining 2 artillery units with Turkish guns are scheduled to be delivered to the Skopje Army in the period 2029-2031.
The Turkish 105mm BORAN light cannon is designed for internal security missions, airborne operations, and will be issued in large numbers to Turkish commando brigades. With long-range ammunition, the BORAN has a range of over 17 km, a rate of fire of 6 rounds per minute and a 105 mm barrel.
The gun, manned by 5 people, can be armed and fired in less than 1 minute. BORAN, with a total weight of 1,780 kg, can be transported by Sikorsky S-70 helicopters and various light vehicles, and can perform any type of mission for 8 hours non-stop.
In short, the Turks have contracted the supply of arms to the Balkans.
What is the plan of Ankara in cooperation with Skopje
"Turkey has friends in the Balkans like Albania and Skopje," Turkish Vice Admiral İbrahim Karataş said earlier, stressing that Turkey has developed enough to play its own geopolitical games in the Balkans.
"Turkey is now at a level where it can create geopolitical conditions and has the means to set up a game very well for this purpose," he had said, summarizing the Turkish plans. Albania, specifically the creation of "Greater Albania", will be the main base of all Turkish plans in the Balkans.
The creation of a "Ukraine" type of situation in the Balkans is not difficult at all, as the recent events on the Kosovo-Serbia border have shown.
A "spark" and the Balkans can catch fire, causing chaos in the region, which the Turkish state will definitely take advantage of to achieve its own plans.
The term "Turkish arc in the Balkans" is neither new nor unknown and it shows Turkey's attempt to encircle Greece strategically.
The issue from a military and strategic point of view is extremely important for Greece, which should not under any circumstances, if it conducts military operations in the Aegean, have to face threats in the Ionian Sea as well as in the North.
