Volat V2 is a new Belorussian armored personnel carrier. The vehicle, which was first revealed in 2021, aims to be used in the country's army and probably for export customers.
The vehicle is part of the Belorussian attempt to replace the Soviet personnel carriers like the BTR-60, BTR-70, and BTR-80, which have encountered several issues through their service. Volat V2 looks more like a Western design rather than a Russian one. As a result, it performs better than the new BTR-82 of Russia.
In terms of armor, the vehicle can withstand up to 12.7mm shells in the front part and up to 7.62mm in the rest part of the hull. The personnel has energy-absorbing seats. Volat V2 is fitted with the NBC protection system.
The prototype featured a two men turret with a 30mm automatic cannon. The vehicle also had a coaxial 7.62mm machine gun and a Konkurs anti-tank guided missile launcher.
The crew includes three members, while the vehicle can transfer up to 8 fully armed soldiers.
Last, we should mention that Volat V2 is fully amphibious and features a Chinese engine that develops 480 or 550hp.
