The BTR-4MV is a new and improved version of the BTR-4 armored personnel carrier of Ukraine. The prototype was revealed in 2013 and was based on the BTR-4E. BTR-4MV was offered to many foreign buyers but didn't achieve to be sold. Furthermore, the vehicle never reaches the production stage. Although, the BTR-4MV1 was created due to the BTR-4MV.
The armored vehicle weighs almost 17.5tons, almost like the basic BTR-4. Although they share the same weight, the BTR-4MV has even greater armor. The wide shields were removed for better protection. The two back doors were replaced by a hatch.
Armament
The overall protection of the vehicle can withstand rounds of the NATO 7.62x51mm and the ballistic protection is the STANAG 4596 Level 3. The front part of the vehicle can survive hits from up to 12.7mm shells. Forever better ballistic protection, the army can add extra armor kits. The carrier can withstand mine explosions up to 8kg of TNT. BTR-4MV is equipped with an NBC protection system.
The prototype was equipped with the BM-7 Parus unmanned turret. This turret was the most common in the BTR-4 line. It features a 30 mm autocannon, a 30mm grenade launcher, and a 7.62mm machine gun. All the ammunition is being put externally. There are also two external launchers for the Barrier anti-tank missiles. These laser-guided missiles can reach 5km in range.
The armored vehicle has a crew of 3 members and provides enough space for 7 more passengers. The troops enter and leave the vehicle through the rear hatch.
The prototype was powered by the diesel engine Deutz BF6M 1015 CP, capable of developing 450hp. Besides its improved armor, BTR-4MV preserves its amphibious capabilities. The vehicle can become amphibious with very simple modifications.
