Serbian Volunteers complain

In more detail, Dejan Beric, a Serbian member of Vladimir Putin's team, spoke about the problems faced by Serbian volunteers who joined the 119th Airborne Regiment Ryazan.

According to him, after receiving permission from the Russian President himself, Serbs started moving to Russia to serve in the Wolf unit. However, and always according to Beric, the leadership of the Russian regiment mistreated the Serb fighters, calling them "gypsies" and not providing them with medical care. Beric's words along with all relevant information were published by Baza journalists, Avia-pro reported.

Beric stressed that before the New Year the Serbs received orders to attack Ukrainian positions, however they were only given a limited amount of ammunition. By extension, the Serb complains that his compatriots were sent to the front without the necessary weapons, essentially on a suicide mission. The regimental command urged the Serb fighters to find the necessary weapons on the battlefield, Beric explained. After this particular incident, the Serb volunteers are said to have asked to be transferred to another unit of the Russian army.

Beric said that the situation escalated when the Russians took the weapons of the Serb fighters, accused them of war crimes and then drove them out of their trenches. They forbade them to go near the kitchen, threatening to imprison, beat or execute them.

Given all the above, the Serb appealed to the office of the military prosecutor in Donetsk and the Chechen military command to request the transfer of the Serb soldiers to the elite Ahmat corps of the Chechen army. There Beric expressed their concerns about the lives of the Serbs who arrived in Russia, and accused the 119th regiment command of working against the interests of the Russian army.

So far, the Russian Ministry of Defence itself has not commented on this issue, but Beric's revelations have caused a lot of reaction, especially in Serbia. However, we cannot rule out the scenario that his statements are untrue. In this case, Avia-pro reports that the Serb could face a prison sentence of up to 5 years.
