Fleet of Frigates to Launch Zircon

More specifically, and according to the Russian article in question, new advanced technologies are rapidly being incorporated into the Russian fleet, making it increasingly dangerous for Moscow's enemies.

A very concrete step towards the modernization of the Russian Navy is a recent statement made by Russian Admiral Nikolai Yevmenov, who spoke of Kremlin plans to produce 10 Admiral Gorshkov-class frigates of the Project 22350 program equipped with Zircon supersonic missiles. This announcement was made during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to the Admiral Kasatonov frigate of the same class.

The Admiral Gorshkov frigates are top of the line and certainly outclass any other frigate in the Russian Navy's arsenal. They are ultra-modern, powerful and carry the Zircon missile, a super-weapon according to Moscow. The Russians have revealed that this weapon can reach speeds many times greater than that of sound, which makes it almost impossible to intercept even by modern air defence systems. The Russian military's Kinzhal missile is also supersonic, which has demonstrated its effectiveness in the Russo-Ukrainian war.

The Admiral Gorshkov class started with the frigate Admiral Gorshkov, which has been modified and has already test-launched the Zircon high-speed missile. Moscow then commissioned the Admiral Kasatonov, which was equipped with 4 supersonic missiles, further strengthening the Russian fleet. Next on the list is the frigate Admiral Golovko, which is currently in the final stage of testing and will soon also become operational and be equipped with Zircon supersonic missiles.

But the Russian plans do not end there. Already the next ships of the class have started to be produced and equipped with weapons. We are specifically talking about the ships named Admiral Isakov, Admiral Amelchenko, Admiral Chichagov, Admiral Yumashev and Admiral Spiridonov. In addition to these, the frigates Admiral Kapitanets and Admiral Vysotsky are planned to be launched in the future, completing a promising programme for the Russian navy.

Yevmenov said that the experience gained by the shipyard in producing the first ship of the class will help speed up the process of building subsequent vessels, leading to a faster completion of the project.

When the Russian fleet acquires several such ships equipped with the Zircon missiles, it will pose a huge threat to all its enemies, especially the US aircraft carriers that are at the heart of Moscow's concerns.
