Israel announced the start of World War III, at least in its own way!
More specifically, and according to new foreign media articles, Israel's Energy Minister Israel Kats made a strong statement about the current situation in the Gaza Strip.
In the opinion of the Israeli politician, the battles his country is fighting against the Palestinian group Hamas are becoming part of a global conflict against the Islamist extremists. According to him, this conflict could be seen as analogous to a 'third world war'.
"Our actions against Hamas are only one part of a larger battle. And this is not just our war. Extremist Islam poses a threat within Europe as well as to other communities," Katz stressed, implying of course that the countless refugees and migrants who have flocked to the European continent are a major problem for Europe.
Katz said, however, that he sees the support that the United States and Europe are showing Israel during this difficult period.
However, the minister stressed that Israel has a special place in this conflict, adding that despite the support it receives from forces around the world, only the Israeli army is involved in the real battle with Hamas today.
"We make decisions on our own and act in accordance with our interests and the security of the nation," the Israeli energy minister concluded.
According to the opinions and assessments of many military experts and geopolitical analysts, the most likely possibility of a third world war breaking out would unfold if Iran were actively involved in the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
Of course, to be able to talk about a world war we would have to see support for Iran from its strategic allies, such as Russia and perhaps China. If this were to happen the results would of course be disastrous, since NATO involvement would be unavoidable.
However, in the later stages of the ongoing war it is more likely to see Lebanese Hezbollah's involvement in the conflict than Tehran's, since Iran seems to be throwing the Middle Eastern militias it funds into the fray first.
