Turkey was rocked by a series of earthquakes on February 6, 2023. Due to the earthquake that hit 10 cities, many countries transported personnel and materials by military cargo planes.
Due to the 7.8 Richter earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaras and affected 10 cities, Turkey requested international assistance. Many countries immediately began sending personnel and humanitarian aid to Turkey on military cargo planes.
According to what, Turkish media have reported so far, C130, A400M and CN235 military transport aircraft of the Turkish Air Force have so far made more than 120 sorties in seismic zones. While the damaged Hatay airport runway was closed to flights. Aid is being sent to Adana Şakirpaşa Airport, Incirlik Air Base and Gaziantep Airports. On the other hand, Turkish defense industry companies have started sending the necessary materials.
Azerbaijan
The first response to Turkey's call came from Azerbaijan. More than 400 search and rescue personnel from Azerbaijan were flown to Turkey on an Il-76 transport aircraft. On the other hand, apart from personnel assistance, Azerbaijan also provided material assistance to Turkey with civilian aircraft. These reinforcements are currently underway.
C-27J Spartans arrived from Bulgaria
Bulgaria was one of the first countries to lend a helping hand to Turkey. C-27J Spartan Military Transport Aircraft (2 aircraft) of the Bulgarian Air Force landed in Adana on February 6 at noon. After returning to their bases, the planes flew a second time to Incirlik, carrying personnel and supplies.
Poland sent C-295
Poland was among the countries that sent search and rescue personnel and equipment to Turkey. Personnel and equipment were flown to Izmir by C-295 Military Transport Aircraft from the Polish Air Force and then flown to Adana by Turkish Air Force C130 aircraft.
Helping hand from Greece
Greece, on the other hand, sent a C-130H military transport aircraft to Turkey for assistance. Personnel and materials sent by C-130H were delivered to Incirlik.
P180 Avanti arrived from Italy
The European Union reacted very quickly to help Turkey. P180 Avanti Military Transport Aircraft owned by Italy flew to Incirlik. Italy then sent a C-130 military transport aircraft to Turkey.
Romania's C-27J
Just like Bulgaria, Romania extended a helping hand to Turkey. A total of 2 military transport aircraft, 1 C-130B Hercules and 1 C-27J Spartan, of the Romanian Air Force, carrying search and rescue teams from Romania, arrived in Turkey.
Later, a new C-27J Spartan military transport aircraft, which departed from Romania, entered Turkish airspace.
Czech C-295 in Turkey
Airbus C-295 transport aircraft of the Czech Air Force was transferred to Turkey to transport material/personnel for the needs caused by the earthquake.
C-130 from Algeria
A C-130 military transport aircraft of the Algerian Air Force has arrived in Turkey.
Helping Hand from Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan sent an Il-76 civilian transport aircraft to Turkey.
Other countries
In addition to the above-mentioned countries, many countries, especially Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Israel, will send reinforcements to Turkey with various aircraft, especially C-17s.
