According to well-informed Russian sources, fighters from the Russian Vostok military group attacked the Ukrainian village of Velikaya Novoselka from behind, capturing the village and expanding their control zone southwest of Razdolnoye.
Recently, Russian troops reached Novy Komar, located 2 kilometers from the central fortified area of the Ukrainian armed forces.
Has Velikaya Novoselka been captured?
Although the Russian Ministry of Defense has not yet confirmed the capture of the settlement, military analysts report that the achievement is of strategic importance. The Ukrainians had been transporting significant supplies from a road to the north of the village, and whoever controls the settlement gains access to the western bank of the Mokrye Yaly River.
Having captured Velikaya Novoselka, the next target of the Russian army in the central Donetsk region will be the capture of Novy Komar, with battles for the village reportedly already underway.
At this point, the Ukrainians maintain strong fortifications, hoping to survive the blows from Russian offensive aircraft. The well-known Military Chronicle channel on Telegram reported that some of these fortifications have already been destroyed.
A Russian military correspondent stated yesterday that the first Russian soldiers have already entered Novy Komar. Consequently, he believes that in the coming hours, the entire village will fall under Russian control, as the Ukrainian defenders are not showing significant resistance.
The Ukrainians have not admitted that battles are taking place in Novy Komar, at least not yet. A recent update on the Ukrainian military map from Ukrainian analysts does show a Russian penetration of 1.3 kilometers into Velikaya Novoselka.
Some Ukrainian military bloggers have admitted that the village is now lost.
At this moment, it seems that all three main roads leading to Velikaya Novoselka are controlled by the Russians. Two of the routes have been cut off, while the third is being hammered by Russian drones and artillery. As a result, the Ukrainians are unable to send reinforcements to the settlement today.
"The situation in Velikaya Novoselka from last night until this morning has been critical. Losing the village will have very serious consequences for the Ukrainian armed forces," said the Ukrainian military correspondent.
