The Battle for Chasiv Yar, lasting over six months, has entered a new phase as Russian troops, according to journalistic sources, have entered the central areas of the city. Meanwhile, Europe holds its breath for Russia's reaction to the Ukrainian attack with ATACMS missiles in Bryansk.
S. Lavrov: The ATACMS missile attacks in the Bryansk region are a message that the West seeks escalation
The Russian Foreign Minister stated that he cannot confirm with certainty the information that the United States has decided to strike Russian territory with long-range missiles.
Moscow hopes that the West will "read the updated nuclear doctrine of the Russian Federation in its entirety."
Lavrov called Scholz's position responsible for his refusal to supply Taurus missiles to Kyiv and launch strikes on Russia.
Analysts believe it may be logical for Putin to wait for Trump to take office as U.S. president, but some may ensure we reach the brink of a world war, and at that point, all scenarios will be open.
Russian forces in Chasiv Yar
As noted by Bild analyst Julian Robke, Chasiv Yar is situated on a strategically important hill and is protected on its eastern side by the Seversky Donets canal.
These natural obstacles had, of course, caused problems for the advance of Russian forces for a long period.
However, according to new data and footage from street battles, Russian forces have managed to cross the canal, allowing them to approach key points in the city.
Reports from open sources indicate intense clashes in an area near the center of Chasiv Yar.
This suggests that Russian forces have gained a foothold near the city's strategic targets, gradually pushing back Ukrainian units.
Experts emphasize that Chasiv Yar is critical for controlling the Ukrainian army's supply lines.
Losing the city could complicate the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in neighboring areas and open additional routes for a Russian offensive.
The Russian army expands control toward Kupyansk
The northern industrial zone of Kupyansk has come under full control of Russian forces following a successful clearance operation, according to media reports.
As reported by Russian sources, during the attack, the Russian military extended its control zone by 3.5 kilometers.
During the operation, two drone control points were destroyed, and several Ukrainian Armed Forces units were eliminated.
According to military sources, Russian artillery destroyed a significant amount of Ukrainian equipment: a T-64 tank, a Krab self-propelled gun, a Bogdan howitzer, as well as two artillery pieces and dozens of mortars.
Ukrainian Armed Forces' attempts to retake lost positions have been unsuccessful.
The Ukrainian side launched six counterattacks using heavy equipment, but all were repelled, resulting in the deaths of 20 Ukrainians and numerous prisoners.
One of them, during interrogation, stated that he was sent just a month ago and was deployed to the front line without proper training, confirming the lack of experienced reserves in the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
In the past 24 hours, according to Russian sources, the total Ukrainian losses in this area amounted to 560 soldiers.
Mercenaries and mobilized Ukrainian soldiers continue to participate in the defense, but their efforts have been unsuccessful, and, most importantly, they cannot halt the Russian advance, which is crucial for the outcome of the war.
