According to reports from Ukraine, the armed forces of the country have lost control of almost the entire Maksimovka, a settlement located near Trudovoye in the southern part of the Kurakhove front.
Russian troops had launched a strong offensive operation in this sector of the front days ago, resulting in the capture of the significant town of Kurakhove. Now, Moscow's soldiers are advancing even deeper, methodically attempting to gain full control of nearby settlements, such as Maksimovka.
Given this situation, the Kurakhove area is currently hosting some of the fiercest ongoing battles across the entire Ukrainian military landscape. Ukrainian forces are facing a truly difficult situation, especially as the harsh Ukrainian winter approaches.
The Russian army is not wasting time or resources on futile targets. Moscow has ordered the capture of the most strategically important settlements around Kurakhove, which are typically used as supply transfer hubs for the Ukrainian army.
If Russian forces have indeed fully captured Maksimovka, they will have achieved yet another significant milestone in this sector of the front. Consequently, Ukrainian defensive efforts will face even greater challenges.
1,500 Ukrainian soldiers dead in one day
Unfortunately for Kyiv, Ukraine is not only facing territorial losses but also counting thousands of dead almost daily. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, in the last 24 hours, the Ukrainian army lost 1,375 soldiers along the entire contact line.
Most of these casualties occurred in eastern Ukraine, including the direction of Kurakhove; however, several also lost their lives in the Russian region of Kursk.
Ukraine has suffered significant losses in the rear as well, as the Russian army launched airstrikes in recent hours against military and other infrastructure in the country.
According to Moscow, military air bases, energy infrastructure, refineries, and other targets supporting the country’s war efforts were hit.
In the direction of Kursk alone, it is reported that the Ukrainians lost more than 350 men in the last day. Meanwhile, they reportedly destroyed 4 tanks, the Kremlin stated in an official announcement.
The problem for Kyiv is that it currently lacks the necessary reserves to replace all these personnel losses.
