In last-minute news from the Russian news service RIA Novosti, an explosion occurred in an operation near the Russian city of Sergeyev Posad. This was reported by a spokesman for the region's emergency services to RIA Novosti.
"An explosion occurred at an optomechanical plant in Shergiev Posad near Moscow," the source said.

As explained to the emergency services, the cause of the explosion was a breach in a technological process.
Information on the victims is currently being gathered.
The Zagorsk optomechanical plant (ZOMZ JSC) is located at Sergeyev Posad, Red Army Avenue, 212 V. A complete evacuation was announced at the enterprise, including in rented workshops in the surrounding area. Windows were broken as a result of the explosion in several buildings in the perimeter.
Security officials and the district chief, Dmitry Akulov, arrived at the scene, and Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyev will arrive shortly.
As the company's website states, ZOMZ JSC is an innovative company developing and manufacturing optical and optoelectronic devices for law enforcement agencies, other industries and the healthcare sector. The list of products manufactured by the factory includes ophthalmic equipment, binoculars, ENT equipment and defibrillators.

In other news now, reported by the Russian news service Avia-pro, assault groups of the Ukrainian armed forces, with active artillery support, are said to have made some progress in the Verbovo region. However, Ukrainian infantry units have failed to fortify their positions on the newly shifted front line.
