Publications on Ukrainian information platforms state that the Russian administration is following a strategy of defensive actions that should lead to the failure of the counterattack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, it is assumed that Yevgeny Prigozhin has chosen "Wagner" for an offensive tactic, the aim of which is to bring Kharkiv under Russian control.
However, it is worth noting that no evidence of such strategic plans has been presented, and all data is based on assumptions only. But that doesn't stop Ukrainian sources from claiming that everything has been decided and Wagner will launch an operation to capture Kharkiv, thereby diverting the reserves of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and helping the Russian army stop the counterattack of Ukrainian troops.
Nevertheless, in early June, some military experts, including the Russians, raised the possibility that "Wagner", after resting and regrouping her forces, could launch an operation to capture Kharkiv.
This is of strategic importance, as without control of this city, any attack on the area of Slavyansk and Kramatorsk may be defeated. In addition, the control in the Kharkiv region will strengthen the security of the border areas.
They have not yet received the medals promised by Putin
Apart from the above, it seems that the war between Prigozhin and the Kremlin continues as the "boss" of "Wagner" complains in a strong tone that his men have not yet been decorated by Putin.
To recall, Prigozhin's private army "Wagner" led the attack on the eastern city of Bakhmut, captured last month by Russian forces after nine months of fighting.
Putin congratulated "Wagner" and the Russian military at the time, and said that all those who distinguished themselves would receive medals.
Prigozhin opposed to the Russian government
But Prigozhin, who has publicly accused the Ministry of Defense and its leadership of incompetence and failure to adequately feed his forces, said most of his men had not been decorated.
"Of the medals for Bahamut, only the 'Hero of Russia' has been received. Nothing has been awarded to the fighters and most of the fighters. The lists are at the Ministry of Defence," he said in a statement released by his press office.
“According to my information, there is a fuss about the signing of the medals. Everyone has already forgotten that they fought and died there," Prigozhin added, accusing the generals of "decorating themselves with trinkets" instead.
It should be noted that there was no immediate reaction to his criticism from the Ministry of Defense which ignored his public complaints.
Prigozhin himself reports that "Wagner" is preparing to carry out combat missions until the beginning of August. According to him, the reorganization, additional staffing and training of the assault detachments is currently underway.
His outburst comes as he remains locked in a murky standoff with the Ministry of Defense over the unissued order that his mercenaries sign formal contracts with the ministry before July 1, putting him in a subordinate position in the ministry's command structure. Defense.
Prigozhin initially refused to sign anything and has since said, without elaborating, that he is proposing an alternative contract himself.
