A Western website reports that Polish mercenaries attacked Russian territory. Who were they and how do they relate to the war?
Terrible exposure
The Western site Military Watch published a message about the involvement of mercenaries from the "Polish Volunteer Corps" (which has been condemned in Russia) in the conflict in Ukraine. According to the source, on May 22 Polish mercenaries took part in an attack in the Russian Graivoronsky of the Belgorod region.
The soldiers themselves seem to have made no secret of their involvement, as they are said to have posted footage of their action on social media. Their actions support Poland's attitude towards Russia, which, apart from rhetoric, also manifests itself in practice, with the transfer of heavy equipment to Kiev.
Military experts from the European country, a country that we should note are part of the Warsaw Pact and was a co-producer of many Soviet weapons, seem to have been very familiar with the weapons of the Polish mercenaries.
The "invasion" of Polish forces on the territory of Russia, as characterized by Russian media, may indicate the strengthening of the role played by Poland in the Ukrainian conflict. Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki has criticized Russia several times, calling it "sheer malice". He is a strong supporter of the idea that the West should continue to fight Moscow.
Tens of thousands of Poles in Ukraine
Polish mercenaries are very well trained and can use excellent weapons of Western design, Russian reports say. This as a result allows them to access various Ukrainian weapons.
"Polish mercenaries are the main source of manpower among the foreign participants in the conflict in Ukraine," said the Russian state-owned Avia-pro, which broadcasts the news.
Of course, despite its political ambitions, Poland's military leaders have publicly expressed doubts about the ability of Kiev and its allies to win the war against Russia.
According to the estimates of the former adviser of the American Pentagon, Douglas McGregor, about 20 thousand Polish mercenaries are in Ukraine.
“So far, Russian forces have neutralized 2,500 thousand. They were buried in cemeteries in Poland but they didn't die in their homeland, they died in Ukraine. In particular, 5 thousand Polish mercenaries exist only in the direction of Zaporizhia, where they are fighting alongside Ukrainian units," explained Colonel Douglas McGregor of the USA.
