Kiev became the target of a massive attack by the Russian army.
More specifically and according to the Russian news service Avia-pro, the authorities in Kiev confirmed the information of the attack, describing it as "the most massive blow in Kiev". The heaviest strike was reported to have been caused by Kinzhal and Kalibr missiles, however Moscow has not confirmed the use of such types of weapons.
The consequences of the attack are truly devastating. A large-scale fire broke out in the Svyatoshinsky district of Kyiv, covering an area of 200 square meters. After the initial explosion, additional explosions followed for some time.
Details of last night's strike have not yet been released, but according to Avia-pro, locals revealed the positions of air defense systems lined up in Kiev, resulting in the launcher being successfully destroyed by the Russians. This took place in the Svyatoshinsky region and according to the Russian page an IRIS-T array was destroyed. Some reports also talk about a Patriot array, but nothing is certain yet.
Following the news, Avia-pro reported that the command of the armed forces of Ukraine officially announced that the mass attack took place hypersonic Kinzhal missiles.
According to official data from the Ukrainian side, Russia used 18 missiles of various types, including from air, sea and ground.
According to the Ukrainian side, the attack last night was carried out simultaneously from the north, south and east. According to Valery Zaluzny, the supreme commander of the country's armed forces, six of Moscow's Kh-47M2 Kinzhal hypersonic missiles were fired from six MiG-31K aircraft. In addition, nine Kalibr-type cruise missiles were launched from ships in the Black Sea, while three more missiles were launched from a ground array (presumably of the Iskander-M type).
As a result of all of the above, we are dealing with one of the most massive attacks since the beginning of the war and perhaps the most massive hypersonic missile attack.
"Although the use of such weapons is not yet certain, judging by the material that has been made public, it seems unlikely that these are hypersonic missiles," said Russia's Avia-pro.
In addition to this, Kiev reported that it managed to shoot down all six super-sonic Kinzhals launched by the Russians, which raised many questions and doubts in the media.
Let's add that this missile is believed to be able to fly at up to mach 10, i.e. about 12 thousand kilometers per hour. At this speed it takes just 10 minutes to reach its maximum range, which is about 2,000 kilometers.
