Wagner strike units reportedly broke through the defenses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Khromov settlement on the western side of the city of Bakhmut and entered it.
The Russians are separated by a distance of 500 meters from the highway between the towns of Bakhmut and Chasov Yar, which are close to the concentration points of Ukrainian forces.
Moscow's order refers to the Spartans' order not to take prisoners, Russian media say.
Reputable news agencies in the west confirm the mass appearance of Russian T-14 Armata tanks in the direction of Donetsk, which is causing concern among members of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
"Ukrainian military personnel know the superiority of this military equipment over the means at their disposal. According to the data, the command of the Russian Armed Forces is actively deploying T-14 Armata and T-90 Proryv tanks, as well as Solntsepek heavy systems in the direction of Bakhmut, in order to reinforce to level the small area that the Ukrainians have squeezed” , reports a Russian expert.
This puts the announced offensive operation of the Ukrainian military in jeopardy, as the Russians appear to be the first to attack.
It is known that Western armored vehicles are also concentrated in this direction, in particular, we are talking about Leopard 2 and Challenger tanks.
Visit of Ukrainian General to Bakhmut for consolation
The commander of the Special Operations Forces of Ukraine, General Viktor Horenko, visited the Bakhmut battlefield, Kyiv announced today.
He observed the situation firsthand and spoke with members of the Special Operations Forces units defending the city.
"The situation in Bakhmut is really difficult, but who, if not you, knows what to do and how to act under the current conditions," Horenko told the soldiers.
"Your work here proves once again that Special Operations Forces are primarily an advantage of quality over quantity," the Ukrainian general said.
The general also emphasized the importance of the work of the special task forces in the defense of Bahamut and the professionalism of the Special Operations Forces.
Ukrainian President V. Zelensky said on April 24 that Ukraine will not leave Bakhmut, as this would allow Russia to expand its front line and threaten more cities in Donbas.
Fierce fighting for Bakhmut continues, with the Russians holding 90% of the city, destroying all buildings, while the Ukrainians are huddled in a small area waiting to be wiped out by a Russian advance that has already begun.
