Ukraine recently became the recipient of an unprecedented military aid from the West, with modern military equipment in tanks, TOMB, TOMA, PEP and other weapon systems and ammunition.
The USA-France-Germany-Poland and Great Britain play a leading role in this effort, with the rest of the Alliance countries following closely behind.
The formation of 10 new Ukrainian Brigades
In our previous article, we mentioned the imminent Formation of 10 new Ukrainian Brigades, which will be created with purely modern Western equipment that we mentioned above, which will be used to launch a large-scale offensive against the Russian Armed Forces.
Initially, there was a lot of talk that the attack would take place in the Kherson-Crimea direction with the objective of liberating the latter, with the condition, however, of Russia's earlier dominance of Bakhmut, which did not happen, after Zelensky's decision to defend there until the end the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
At the same time, Moscow is using propaganda means to undermine the confidence of Ukrainians in the decisions of the administration for the defense of the city of Bakhmut, which has become a new Stalingrad.
Russian propaganda about Bahamut
Putin, in this effort, attempts to undermine the confidence of the Ukrainian society and the army in the decisions of the Bakhmut administration, to demoralize and psychologically weaken the Ukrainian army and
lead the country's military leadership to wrong actions.
The Russians are spreading three messages to this end, that the decision to keep Bahamut is purely political,
that there is no point in holding the city as it is almost surrounded and that the heroism of the Ukrainian soldiers is exaggerated and the result of Ukrainian propaganda.
However, Russia is trying to undermine the alliance between NATO countries and Ukraine, trying to discredit the war material sent to it, namely the British Challenger-2 tanks, as outdated, without an upgrade for 20 years and which will be easily destroyed by the Russian tanks, according to International Media which points out:
Germany-M. Britain delivered Leopard 2 A6 and Challenger-2 tanks
German publication Der Spiegel reported on March 27 that Berlin had delivered "very modern" Leopard 2 Main Battle Tanks (MBT) to Kiev. Later, the German Ministry of Defense stated that a total of 18 Leopard 2 A6 tanks had been delivered.
German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said: "Our tanks arrived in the hands of our Ukrainian friends as promised and on time." Berlin announced its decision to arm Ukraine with state-of-the-art Leopard 2 MBTs on January 25. Subsequently, he also approved the transfer of different variants of Leopard tanks from other NATO countries that operated them.
Although this is the first delivery of Leopard 2 MBTs to Germany, these war machines from the Polish stockpile started arriving in Ukraine at the end of last month. The first batch of tanks was delivered to Kiev on the first anniversary of the Russian invasion, February 24.
In addition, the German Leopard 2 tanks delivered to Ukraine are accompanied by the British Challenger-2 tanks this time.
Ukraine's defense minister said in a statement on Facebook: "A year ago, no one would have believed that the support of our partners would be so strong," referring, in addition to the above tanks, to the delivery of German TOMA Marder, American armored vehicles Cougar and THOMAS Stryker.
Earlier this month, reports in local German media said that Ukrainian troops in Germany had completed their training in the use of the German Leopard 2 and were ready to operate these tanks. The report also notes that the trained crews and their tanks will be in Ukraine in March.
According to a recent announcement by the UK Ministry of Defense (MoD), Ukrainian Armed Forces personnel have returned home after completing their training on Challenger 2 tanks. This essentially means that the forces are ready to operate both tanks. cutting-edge NATO type once the Army integrates them into its force and organizes them accordingly.
What can Challenger 2 Tanks do in Ukraine?
The Challenger 2 tank delivery has been described as important as it has a powerful gun and is heavily armoured. In addition, according to information, their delivery will be supplemented with 20 Bulldog armored personnel carriers and 30 AS-90 self-propelled howitzers.
The above tanking aid has led the Russian media to claim that they are preparing a "warm welcome" for them.
The Challenger 2 is a third-generation MBT, the same generation as the Russian T-80 and T-90 main battle tanks.
The Challenger 2's armor, sometimes known as Chobham or Dorchester armor, is considered to be one of the best in the entire world. Its composition is a closely guarded secret, but being about twice as strong as steel, it can withstand a direct hit from a Russian T-72 tank.
In addition, explosive reactive armor (ERA) kits and additional rod armor could be installed during a crash to add more protection to the Challenger-2 tank.
According to some experts, the main dominant point of the Challenger 2 tank is the Royal Ordnance L30 120 mm gun. This weapon can engage targets at a distance of about four kilometers.
At the same time there are reports that the UK is sending depleted uranium shells to Ukraine as part of the Challenger-2 package.
Britain's Defense Secretary, Baroness Goldie, told the House of Lords: “As well as providing a squadron of Challenger 2 main battle tanks to Ukraine, we will provide munitions, including armour-piercing ammunition containing depleted uranium. Such projectile rounds are highly effective against modern tanks and armored vehicles."
Russia has warned that delivering depleted uranium missiles would be considered nuclear escalation.
The Russians could hit an English tank at a distance of 3-4 km with just an ATGM. However, the front of the tower and the upper frontal part are strong and are not affected by all Russian ammunition.
At shorter ranges, the "Lead-2" sub-caliber cruise missile could effectively damage the Challenger 2. The Russian Army's front-line tank units have the latest 3BM60 Lead-2 armor-piercing missiles
Experts believe it is likely that the UK will eventually provide Ukraine with additional Challenger 2s.
Our assessment is that April will be a "very hot" and bloody month, since we expect the largest tank battle since the start of the war in Ukraine to take place in the wider region of Bakhmut.
