The SADAT paramilitary unit loyal to Turkey's president has been peddling conspiracy theories claiming the US may be behind the deadly earthquakes that hit Turkey earlier this month and that a Western anti-Islamic/anti-Turkish campaign is aimed at overthrowing Islamist leader of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
We have reported that some ultranationalist and Islamist groups supported by the Islamist government have tried to discredit humanitarian aid efforts from foreign countries with a series of conspiracy theories on social media.
According to a reputable media outlet, Ali Coşar, a retired colonel and board member of SADAT, wrote articles and were published by the paramilitary group's propaganda arm, ASSAM (Association of Justice Defenders Strategic Studies Center), claiming that the US was threatening Turkey for some time and that it was no coincidence that the earthquakes occurred immediately after the visit of an American warship to Istanbul.
Coşar also argued that the West has launched an anti-Islamic/anti-Turkish campaign due to fears of Turkey's rise and SADAT's goal of creating a powerful, ultra-Islamic state that would include dozens of Muslim countries. He also said that the campaign against Turkey intensified after Turkey obstructed the efforts of Sweden and Finland to join NATO.
SADAT enjoys significant influence in the office of the Turkish president and helps shape foreign, military and political security in Turkey and abroad. SADAT, short for Uluslarisari Savunma Danışmanlık İnşaat Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi, a for-profit company, was founded by retired general Adnan Tanrıverdi and his partners on February 22, 2012. Tanrıverdi had served as a former Turkish military chief and still advises Erdogan , albeit informally, on military and security issues.
According to the paramilitary group SADAT, which has been involved in arming, training and sponsoring jihadists in Syria and Libya, the West's ultimate goal is to oust Turkish President Erdogan from power and prevent the realization of an alliance of Islamic countries. .
SADAT board member Ali Coşar argues that the US military presence in Greece, Syria and the Mediterranean is part of a comprehensive siege plan executed by Washington against Turkey, and calls it an existential threat to the country's future .
Citing a recent article on Turkey by American academic Henry Barki, Coşar said both President Erdogan and Turkey were threatened by Barki, whom he portrayed as an enemy of the Turks. He accused Barki of urging US military intervention in the upcoming Turkish elections, although the article did not mention such a possibility at all," the reputable outlet reports.
Again evoking anti-Semitic conspiracies, Coşar claimed that leading American publications such as the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post and the British edition of The Economist were owned by Jews, targeting Turkey and Erdogan.
However, he said that all such efforts would be in vain, since Allah will perfect his divine light - an expression borrowed from the Koran - through Turkey and create the Confederate States of the Islamic Union that SADAT intends to establish.
To mention, SADAT cooperates with the Turkish intelligence agency MIT and coordinates actions with Turkish diplomats and defense officials, according to Ali Kamil Melih Tanrıverdi, the CEO of SADAT, and Adnan.
Adnan announced during the 2019 Islamic League Conference that his organization was working to pave the way for the long-awaited mahdi (prophet redeemer of Islam), which the entire Muslim world is waiting for.
The implication was that President Erdogan… is the expected leader and mahdi!
