What a mess! Russia's missiles were shot down and the wreckage created chaos - Dozens were injured (Video)

Dozens of people were wounded in the early morning hours in Kiev in the new missile attack by the Russian army on the Ukrainian capital, the city's mayor said.

A series of explosions were heard and air defence sirens sounded almost simultaneously, international news agency correspondents reported.

"There are 34 wounded in the capital's Dniprovsky district, 15 were admitted to hospitals, including two children, (another) 19 received medical treatment on the spot," the Ukrainian capital's mayor Vitaly Klitschko explained via social media sites, citing rescue teams.

According to the elected official, the "enemy's night attack on the Dniprovsky district" resulted in "damage" to an apartment building and a children's hospital, among others. Fifteen residents of the apartment building had to be rescued, he added.

Earlier, he said that 12 people were injured as a result of the fall of Russian missile debris destroyed in the airspace of the Ukrainian capital.

However, this figure was later revised, as the authorities who rushed to the scene reported 25 injured.

The Kiev military command said that after the destruction of "enemy aerial targets" debris fell in the Desniansky and Dniprovsky districts, also referring to a fire.

This is the second Russian airstrike on Kiev in a week. On Monday, the Ukrainian authorities announced that eight Russian 'ballistic missiles' heading for Kiev were destroyed and four people required medical treatment.
