Russian President Vladimir Putin made an important statement on Greek-Russian relations, welcoming the new Greek Ambassador to the Kremlin, Ekaterini Xagorari.
Specifically, the Russian president told the Greek ambassador:
"We cannot but be concerned about the situation in Russia-Greece relations. We hope that the traditional ties of spiritual closeness, mutual sympathy and respect between the Russian and Greek peoples will help, and in time, mutually beneficial relations between the states and normal relations will be reborn.
For more than two centuries, Russia and Greece have managed to build a constructive and friendly cooperative relationship, which has helped them to achieve good results together in economic bilateral cooperation and relations between the two societies."
This intervention by the Russian President is considered extremely important.
