Now it is clearly demonstrated how criminal it was that political and military leaders ignored the technological developments regarding non-conventional air vehicles, after the 2000-2002 attempt by our Air Force, as a result of the mentality that unfortunately governs many echelons in our country.
Today it became known through the Greek press that "the EAB's anti-drone system on the frigate Psara worked very successfully while it was on combat missions in the Red Sea".
We are talking about normal combat missions, against Houthi drones that have caused a lot of damage to merchant and warships for many months.
"From the beginning of the naval mission of the Psara Frigate, weaknesses had been identified, especially in the system for countering unmanned aerial vehicles (anti-drone).
For this reason, an EAB system was installed," the article states.
What is the antidote that scared the Turks and was prepared in secret by Hellenic Aerospace Industry
Hellenic Aerospace Industryhas built a special technology system
for the suppression of small UAVs, using high-power microwave pulses, which was installed on the frigate Psara.
The state-of-the-art system for repelling or destroying unmanned aerial vehicles is the first to be developed on a pan-European scale.
It is the main antidote to Turkish drones, which was prepared by the Greek specialists of the Naval Air Force, who developed a state-of-the-art drone repulsion system, which provides for the use of high-power microwave pulses, drastically upgrading their suppression capability.
We are talking about the testing in the Red Sea of the first "pan-European "state-of-the-art system for repelling or destroying unmanned aerial vehicles", which was indirectly carried out by the Greek Air Force Industry through the frigate YDRA.
Its integration shields the National Defence and military targets from malicious attacks that can come from different types of UAVs. The system was designed and made operational by the Research, Design and New Product Development Directorate of the Hellenic Aerospace Industry , which worked on it for more than a year.
Hellenic Aerospace Industry's Research, Design and New Product Development Division has already taken the lead in the European iFurther project, which concerns the development of very long-range air and sea surveillance technologies. It is also involved with a major project in the study of the new European transport aircraft (FASETT project), as well as in the proposal for the study of very large cargo aircraft (SATOC project).
Hellenic Aerospace Industry is proud of this leading technological innovation that belongs to the category of
directed energy weapons. The Company is committed to continue to contribute to the strengthening of the
the Hellenic Armed Forces by actively participating in smart warfare programmes.
The Hellenic Aerospace Industry is always at the forefront of applied research, building an important fund of expertise for the country's Defence and shaping technological developments in Greece.
