Acquisition of large ships by the Coast Guard
There are plans to acquire two corvettes from the Greek Coast Guard, upgrading the effectiveness of the regular operational capabilities of the service, but it will relieve our country of the headache, since many times Navy ships are deployed in response to Turkish provocations due to the difference in the size of the vessels.
There are probably many thoughts in the leadership of the Greek Coast Guard for even further equipment of our vessels.
One suggestion would be to equip it even with anti-tank systems, as the Turks are doing, putting the Mizrak-U UMTAS (Uzun Menzilli Tanksavar Sistemi) anti-tank missile system on their navy's new K-class fast ships.
In the Aegean sea we have a daily "war" with many forms, for this we must prepare accordingly as quickly as possible.
The essence is at some point to implement an upgrade to transform our port corps into a "branch" of the Greek navy, which will be a solution to the many problems we are currently facing in the Aegean from the "waves" of immigrants.
Moving on this "logic", we should turn part of the vessels we have into a fighting force, which can under adverse conditions even undertake naval combat missions of short "range".
Turkey is likely to put into practice many of its threats in the Aegean, which is why we must be as well prepared as possible to deal with them in any way.
