Turkish media: ''New warships with new capabilities'' - Detailed report on them - ''Greeks will lose sleep''

"New features will be incorporated into the frigates to be produced under the MİLGEM project. Here are all the details...," a Turkish publication writes.

The frigates to be produced for Turkey's MİLGEM national warship program will be enhanced with new systems produced by (defense product companies) STM, Roketsan and Aselsan. Systems capable of being launched from sea to air will provide greater capability for Turkey's air defence on the high seas.

Thus, the frigates to be produced under the MİLGEM project, which will play an active role in the defense of the Blue Homeland, are equipped with new capabilities. Class I frigates will be enhanced with systems that can be launched from sea to air.

After TCG Istanbul, which was built at the Istanbul Shipyard under the prime contractor STM, three more national frigates will be built at the civilian shipyard in 36 months.

Turkey's national warship program, the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th frigates of the MİLGEM project, will have more integrated radar systems.

According to Yeni Şafak's report, the National Vertical Launching System (MIDLAS) developed by ROKETSAN and the HİSAR-D RF fire control system will also be included.

The HİSAR-D RF, which has differences compared to the land-based fire control system, transmits the necessary corrections to the missiles depending on the position and speed of the target and missile.

ASELSAN's Gökdeniz will also make a difference for MİLGEM. Gökdeniz, which was integrated into TCG-Istanbul after the completion of factory acceptance tests, stands out as a point defense system that can destroy anti-ship missiles targeting the ship on which it is deployed.

Gökdeniz can effectively defend ships against threats such as helicopters, planes, unmanned aerial vehicles and surface vehicles, as well as anti-ship missiles, the publication concludes.
