Export of Israeli natural gas from Cyprus-Greece to the EU causes strong disturbances in Russia

Israel's Foreign Minister Cohen agreed with Greece on the export of natural gas to Europe via Cyprus, Russian media confirm.

"Yesterday, in a meeting with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias, we agreed on the export of Israeli natural gas through Greece and Cyprus, which will go all over Europe. In the context of the global energy crisis, this will strengthen our international position and bring a lot of money to the country,” Cohen tweeted.

Negotiations between Cohen and Dendia took place on Tuesday in Jerusalem as part of the Greek foreign minister's first visit to Israel since the formation of Benjamin Netanyahu's new government.

Cohen said he discussed with Dendia the Iranian threat, prospects for developing bilateral energy cooperation, as well as the "Abraham Accords," an agreement to normalize relations between Israel and Arab countries.

The transition of Israeli natural gas to Europe via Cyprus and Greece takes place in two ways, with the East Med pipeline, or with the transport of LNG from liquefied gas storages.

An Italian publication wants 2023 to be a year of developments for the pharaonic project of the EastMed pipeline, which is estimated to turn southeastern Europe into a natural gas hub and greatly upgrade the geopolitical power of the countries involved.

As Italy's InsideOver reports, "the Meloni government is strongly aiming to strengthen energy independence from Russia, and in 2023 it could pave the way for a strategic infrastructure project for Italy, the EastMed gas pipeline."

The strategic project that could bring natural gas to the Israel-Cyprus-Greece-Italy route is now under active discussion and could emerge as a game changer in the eastern Mediterranean if Rome completes the Igi-Poseidon section from the Aegean to Puglia."

What will Turkey do in this eventuality?

Turkey, through experts and institutes, essentially threatens us that it will not let us exploit our deposits in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean, while it also presents clear threats to the East Med pipeline.

The Turkish consultant and professor at a university of the Occupied in Cyprus, Ata ATUN, said revealing the clear intentions of the Erdoğan regime:

"As is known, Greece's strategy and ultimate goal is to seize the natural gas deposits in the Eastern Mediterranean and establish an "empire" of natural gas, which will be transported to Europe under Greek sovereignty.

Seeing Turkey as the only obstacle to this plan, Greece is trying to eliminate our country in order to realize its dream.

According to this goal, Greece, which prefers to start by creating tension, wants to sabotage all the efforts that Turkey has made for world peace, especially in the Ukraine-Russia war, and to discredit our country.

The intention of the Greeks is to cause unfair problems in the Aegean and the Eastern Mediterranean, and to pit Turkey against the "West" of the EU and the USA.

Taking advantage of this crisis, the Greeks will "force" a part of the Turkish navy to deploy in the Aegean, and another part in the Eastern Mediterranean to resist Greece's deliberate provocations.

Greece specifically wishes to:

  1. To weaken the protection of the "Blue Homeland" by splitting the Turkish Navy into two.
  2. To enter into alliances with the regional states that are in enmity or disagreement with Turkey in a logic based on enmity towards our country.
  3. To encircle and immobilize Turkey along the coasts of the Aegean and the Mediterranean and seize most of the natural gas reserves in the Eastern Mediterranean,” he says.

There are no asterisks or obstacles here, the Turks will seek at all costs to intervene in the Eastern Mediterranean, and only a coalition of countries (Greece-Israel-Egypt-Cyprus-USA) will put a "bridle" on the Erdogan regime that wants to control the region with sultanic firmans like 300 years ago.
