The Libyan press reported a while ago that "a court in Tripoli ruled in favor of suspending the implementation of the provisions provided for in the agreement of last October, signed by the Interim Government of National Unity (based in Tripoli) and Turkey on the exploitation of natural resources" .
The day before yesterday, the president of Egypt, Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, issued a presidential decree demarcating the country's maritime borders to the West, i.e. with Libya.
What does all this mean for Greece and its plans in the Eastern Mediterranean
After delineating an EEZ to the west with Libya al-Sisi, had effectively "dissolved" the illegal Turkey-Libya memorandum on the Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) in the Mediterranean Sea.
Egypt's decree followed the recent signing of the new intergovernmental search and rescue agreement with Greece, all of which together nullify the illegal Turkish-Libyan memorandum, and pave the way for demarcation with Libya by both countries.
Also, the recent reference of the Libyan politician Bashaga to international law was extremely important because it excludes any coup d'état on the part of Ankara, which for a long time has been seeking to "legitimize" the Turkish-Libyan memorandum, without any results, since it was condemned by both the US and the EU.
We remind you that a large-scale project and alternative routes for natural gas pipelines are now officially being studied by Libya through the country's parliament, which will change the landscape throughout the Eastern Mediterranean.
The new Greek "Megali Idea" finds an outlet in the sea
The so-called new "Megali Idea" will be based on the sea and the exploitation of the Greek EEZ, because this is the only way for the Greek state to survive in the future, in cooperation with strong players in the Mediterranean. Nothing from here on out will be accidental and everything will aim for this plan.
The bottom line is that Greece and Egypt are methodically preparing the biggest blow to the Turkish regime, having on their side, as things show, enormous energy giants.
This plan to transport Libyan natural gas requires a very powerful navy and a fleet of unmanned naval vessels and aircraft, and this will be the next stake for Greece in the near future.
In the next period, it is estimated that we will likely have a change of government in Tripoli, Libya through elections, thus changing the balance in the Eastern Mediterranean, while the presence of American aircraft carriers and warships in the wider area prohibits possible unilateral actions by the Turks in the Libyan EEZ, which has the two largest deposits in the Mediterranean.
