The well-known old Greek film "The Aegean is on fire" is reminiscent of the conflict between Russia and the USA, which is transferred to the middle of the Aegean Sea, after the constantly increasing information about an attack by the Ukrainians in Crimea.
"In the event of a threat to Crimea, Russia can strike with 16 "Zircon" missiles from the Mediterranean Sea (meaning the Aegean-Eastern Mediterranean)," Russian sources say.
The appearance in the Eastern Mediterranean of the Russian state-of-the-art frigate "Admiral Gorshkov" concerns its mission for this very scenario, the protection of Crimea.
"In the context of an expected attack by Ukraine and possible attacks on the Crimean peninsula, Russia may strike the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kiev with a supersonic Zircon cruise missile."
This was reported by Russian analysts, who stress that the appearance in the Mediterranean of the frigate Admiral Gorshkov, which carries 16 hypersonic 3M22 Zirkon missiles, is more than an obvious warning to Kiev.
"At this moment the Russian frigate 'Admiral Gorshkov' is preparing to enter the Mediterranean Sea.
However, its appearance is connected not only with the implementation of a long-range campaign, but it can also have a real combat mission, since with the range of its missiles from the Mediterranean Sea they reach the Ukrainian territory in a few minutes, with great accuracy.
The West believes that Russia will not be able to launch missiles through international waters of Mediterranean countries and Turkey (Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean).
However, given the fact that we are talking about the security of Russian territory, Russia does not intend to ask for permission from any country, not to mention the fact that Zircon can fly at an altitude of up to 28 kilometers, which is clearly much further the zone of destruction of air defense systems of NATO countries", emphasizes the Russian expert, thus indirectly involving our country through the Aegean Sea, in whose international waters we will soon see the Russian warship.
A large concentration of forces is being observed in the Mediterranean, as NATO and Russia are on the verge of a new cold war confrontation, which has been further escalated by the war events and the involvement of both in Ukraine.
The US moves the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush, towards the coast of Syria, while their warships periodically move to Crete and the Ionian Sea, looking for Russian ships and submarines.
Reports of greatly increased Russian naval activity in the Mediterranean are mounting and paint a picture of Russian maneuvering and activity in the Eastern Mediterranean based on a specific scenario of tracking and "targeting" NATO forces in the region.
We remind you that the backbone of the Russian armada remains in the Mediterranean, in case of any possible conflict with the side of the United States and NATO.
