In 2021 a new armored vehicle was seen during Russian tests. BMP-KSh is a command post vehicle of the Armata series. Some Russian sources call it BMP-KSh, although we don't know for sure if this will be its official designation. The vehicle features the standard Armata hull but of course without the turret. The engine is at the front.
Its Role
BMP-KSh was built to perform side by side with heavy vehicles of the Armata series. The configurations include Armata tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and other special vehicles. BMP-KSh was built to control these vehicles on the battlefield.
Specifications
BMP-KSh's weight is almost 40t. This impressive number is a great feature of the vehicle because of its armor. Its armor provides more protection than other similar vehicles like the BMP-3K or the MPH-1KSh. Materials like steel and ceramics are part of the armor. The front-engine provides extra protection to the crew. The engine is specially protected from extra armor with a distinct shape.

The command vehicle features an add-on Malakhit Explosive Reactive Armor. It's interesting fact that some vehicles were seen in 2021 with two layers of these armors. Some say that one layer isn't enough against modern anti-tank missiles, so the army tests two instead.
The vehicle uses the new active protection system Afgatin, a system that can destroy incoming anti-tank missiles and rockets. It also features an electromagnetic shield and the NBC protection system.
BMP-KSh is equipped with a lot of different communication systems and battlefield management systems. Besides the command personnel, the vehicle needs at least two crew members.

The prototype which was seen in 2021 didn't have any visible guns. Although, we are guessing that such a vehicle will feature one machine gun for defense purposes.
Its engine is still unknown. Some sources state that the A-82-2 diesel engine will be used, with a horsepower of 1,200. In 2019 other data talked about the better A-85-3 diesel engine with a pick of 1,500hp. This horsepower will only be used on the battlefield due to its high cost. Except for the cost, such power results in the reduction of the lifetime of the engine. BMP-KSh is not amphibious, mainly cause of its weight and scale.
