The drone is equipped with a bunch of different sensors, that according to NAVCENT work with solar power.

The drone is built by Saildrone, a company based in California.

All surface drones of the company have performed yearly missions to collect data. One of their drones traveled from San Francisco to Hawaii in 34 days in 2013, according to the company.

The US Navy hopes that the capabilities of the A.I. of Saildrone will provide the fleet with a cheap but effective gadget that is carbon-free.

The Coast Guard started testing Saildrone products in Hawaii in 2020.

According to the company, these boats have been built for long sea distances and are equipped with cameras, radar, infrared cameras, and night capabilities.

The software detects targets of high interest and informs its operators.
