Pentagon bought -almost 10 years ago- Mi-17 military helicopters from Russia in order to arm the Armed forces of Afghanistan. Of course, it could send American military helicopters instead of the Mi-17s. So, which was the reason behind this decision?
The decision was taken because of two critical reasons, that were revealed public some years later. First, the Armed Forces of the country were already using military aircraft, and especially the Mi-17 helicopter. So, they had already experienced it. The US commanders also wanted the Russian aircraft due to its endurance and easy usage.
Another significant reason was the attempt of the Pentagon to protect US technology. So basically, in the possibility of the Taliban taking the lead in the war, soldiers of their army would have military equipment in their hands.
And that's how it happened after all… In 2021, the government of the county fell once again and the Taliban lead the nation since then!
