The Russian military industry has improved rapidly lately, as it has developed a variety of different new weapons. The new assault rifle produced by Kalashnikov Concern with the name AK-19 looks very promising.
Specifications
AK-19 is a modified AK-12. The gun shoots 5.56x35 mm NATO ammunition because it aims at export sales. It's really interesting that many countries like Cyprus, Indonesia, Iran, and Serbia use the AK-101 with 5.46x45 mm ammunition. So, the AK-19 may be an interesting weapon for these countries.
The 5.56x45 mm ammunition of the assault rifle is more powerful than the Russian 5.45x39 mm ammunition. AK-19 preserves all the main features of the Kalashnikov assault rifles. So, essentially, the gun is similar to the previous AK-101 rifle that shoots 5.56x45 mm ammunition. Although, the newer AK-19 is in general a more modern weapon with a lot of changes in the ergonomic part. The gun features a new polymer housing, a new grip, and other improvements.
The fire modes are “safe”, “semi-auto” and “full-auto”.
AK-19 has a new design rear sight. This sight was noticed first time in an AK-12. The weapon can aim at 1000m, although such range is a bit too long for the actual gun. The effective range that provides decent accuracy is at almost 500m. There is also a full-size Picatinny-type rail on the gun that can accommodate numerous sights.
In the front size, there is a rail for other accessories like vertical grip, bipod, laser, and others.
AK-19 comes with a new muzzle brake that is specially designed to receive fast a silencer. The weapon can be armed with a bayonet knife or a grenade launcher.
