These are the 10 best submachine guns in the world

Submachine guns are small automatic guns that are designed to fire pistol rounds. The first ones were developed in the period between 1914 and 1918 and are very famous guns today. Let’s see what are the ten best that has been created!  

10. FAMAE SAF

The Chilean submachine started production in 1992. It is used by the country’s army and the law enforcement units, and it has been exported to some countries, like Portugal. There is a button on the weapon that changes the fire mode. The magazines consist of 30 rounds and the gun has an effective range of 100 meters.

9. Brugger & Thomet MP9

The very interesting Swedish gun is an improved version of the Austrian Ster TMP, that stopped being produced in 2001. The Swedish did a lot of changes and start producing the MP9 in 2004. There are available magazines of 12, 20, 25, or 30 rounds. The submachine gun has an effective range of 50-100 meters.  

8. CZ Scorpion EVO 3

The Czech Republic is known for its qualitative and capable weapons. The EVO 3 is not an exception, as it's very advanced and effective. The gun was revealed in 2009 and since then it has been exported to numerous countries like Egypt and Serbia. The available magazines are of 20 and 30 rounds. The EVO 3 has an effective range of 100 meters, even though many believe that in semi-automatic mode the submachine gun ‘kills’ up to 250. 

7. MAC-10

The first American weapon on the list, the MAC-10, it’s really popular in this type of gun. The weapon started production in 1970 and aimed to be adapted from special operations and law enforcement units. The version of .45 ACP comes with a 30-round magazine, while the 9x19 mm comes with a 32-round magazine. Even if the sight has a maximum magnification of 100 meters, the effective range of the gun reaches 50-70 meters. 

6. Beretta PM12

The Italic Beretta started development in the ‘50s. In 1961 the submachine gun was adopted from the Italian army, the Italian special forces and the law enforcement units of the country. Even if the weapons are considered legendary, today it’s a bit outdated. The magazines are of 20, 32, and 40 rounds. The gun is precise in close combat and for sights over 100 meters, the semi-automatic mode provides an extended (and almost necessary) precision.

5. Heckler & Konch UMP

The known UMP is a German submachine gun that was designed as a successor of the successful MP5. The main goal was to be lighter and cheaper than MP5. The production of guns started in 1999, and today it continues as normal. The UMP has been delivered to more than 2o countries, and it is available with magazines of 25 and 30 rounds. The effective range of the gun is about 100 meters.  

4. Heckler & Konch MP7

The Heckler & Konch company is very successful in the production of this field, as it has developed amazing weapons. The MP7 was designed as a competitor to the Bulgarian FN P90. The production started in 2001, and today it is used by more than 20 countries worldwide. The available magazines consist of 20 or 30 rounds. The effective range of the gun reaches 150-200 meters. 

3. FN P90

Even if the MP7 tried to compete with the FN P90, the Bulgarian submachine won the competition. The P90 was mainly built for the self-defense of soldiers like vehicle drivers, infantry crew, and more. Today, it is used by more than 50 countries, mainly in special forces and law enforcement units. Its magazine consists of an impressive amount of 50 rounds, while the effective range of the gun reaches 150-200 meters. It’s an interesting fact that P90 can penetrate a US helmet from a distance of 150 meters.  

2. Uzi

Maybe the most famous gun in the world, the Israel Uzi, has written history. The gun was designed in 1949 by Uziel Gal and took its name from him. The submachine gun was selected from the Israeli army due to its simple design and its easy production. The gun was so successful that at some point it was used by 90 countries. Today, almost 70 countries use it. The available magazines consist of 25, 32, 40, or 50 rounds.

Of course, at the top of the list is the German MP5 of Heckler & Konch. The submachine gun was developed in the early ‘60s and proved to be a very successful design. Its production is still going and despite its age, the weapon is being used by more than 90 countries in the world. Greece not only uses the weapon, but it has also got a license for indigenous production. The available magazines have 15 or 30 rounds and the effective range of fire reaches 100 meters. Of course, since it was designed, the weapon has improved in many ways. Today, MP5 is considered a high-precision and quality weapon that provides reality under any circumstances.
