Greece and India have agreed to increase military relations between the two countries. The General Director of the General Directorate of Civil Defense and International Relations, Dr. Konstantinos P. Balomenos, welcomed on May 25, 2021, the Defense Attaché of India, Colonel Anupam Ashish, at the Ministry of National Defense, in the context of bilateral defense relations between Athens and New Delhi.
During the meeting, issues of common interest were discussed and the further expansion of cooperation on military training activities, in particular, exercises and operational training at bilateral and multilateral level, military academic training and dealing with hybrid threats was discussed.
The two officials also discussed the mutual security and stability challenges facing each country. In addition, they had the opportunity to exchange views on issues of common interest regarding the European Union and the substantial contribution of the Armed Forces as a crisis management mechanism brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic.
During the discussion, the strong ties of friendship between the two countries were confirmed, while at the same time the importance of further deepening the bilateral relations between Greece and India, in the framework of regional and International Organizations, was stressed.
